Banksy Sells Original Artworks For 60$ In Central Park, New York City

Banksy Sells Original Artworks For 60$ In Central Park, New York City

We were all patiently waiting for the new Banksy street piece for October 13th – and then came the revelation that today’s addition to Banksy’s month long NYC exhibition actually occurred yesterday with yet another unique stunt.

The elusive British artist opened a pop-up booth in Central Park, where he sold a series of original artworks – for $60 each. At present, we’d currently estimate the smaller pieces of this collection to have a market value of £20, 000, but despite this, only 7 pieces sold all day – to a handful of oblivious buyers.

Banksy’s previous quote “I Can’t Believe You Morons Actually Buy This Shit” seems more relevant than ever today when we consider that without his name officially attached to the Central Park pieces, sales of the works were very poor and made $480 in total for the day. Make sure you take a look at the astonishing video footage after the break, and let us know if you walked past the stall none-the-wiser.

Despite 13 new pieces in 13 days, Banksy seems not to have run out of surprises just yet – and we can’t wait to see what he’s still got up his sleeve. You’ll hear about it first here!

Note: The booth is not here anymore

  2. Hilarious. I would have wanted the original $60 sign.

  3. I only watched the video once, but I counted 8, not seven. Perhaps the total confused you, but the first woman negotiated and received a 50% discount on two of them.
